acrylic on plaster

These paintings explore the abstractions of space (not outer space!). This space is seen through the use of colour. Hemingway considers that these works have been some of the most time consuming he has ever made. "Much more difficult than my figurative works" he says. Gehadt Richter seems to suggest the same thing. Abstract work seems to constantly suggest itself. The framework is not necessarily established from the beginning, it finds its own path. Hemingway finds it mind bending. For sheer beauty he thinks that nothing can quite compare in his oeuvre to this body of work, providing the base for his ongoing tapestries.
