Hemingway's "Autograph" pieces represent the artist's first forays into three-dimensional installations. He was first inspired to create wall panels when, as a young student, he saw The Lion Hunt of Ashurbanipal in the British Museum. In this series of huge Babylonian reliefs depicting a dramatic hunting adventure, Hemingway saw a means of communicating the epic themes of war and peace, order and dysfunctionality, themes he sought to explore in his own work.
Most recently, Hemingway's three-dimensional design work has taken him into the realm of designing art furniture, in collaboration with his colleague and close friend John Singleton. It is hoped that in 2018 the furniture will have its first unveiling.
